Whats better the ford escape hybrid or the toyota highlander (the 09 models)?

Were thinking of purchasing one, which one would be best overall. We want good performance, great mpg, lots of miles under 30k. If any know about upcoming toyota suv hybrids coming out this month please tell also.

    If your looking for quality and the best re sale value, it’s the Toyota. But with the economy the way it is right now, maybe you should buy American.

    Toyota has a great reputation for reliability and frequency-of-repair, and thus maintains great resale values. The Ford Escape gets better mileage, but its towing capability is limited to 1000 lbs. If, even in the “green” era, bigger is better, then the Highlander’s your best bet!
