the hybrid Accord proves that hybrids are not automatically slugs , as for getting the highlander do it ! the automakers respond to the marketplace , do your research on the dealer too , warranty satisfaction especially , hopefully you won’t need it .

Hybrid cars can be a good thing, the trick is that most get better gas milage in the city in stop and go conditions and less on highway and long travel situations. The key is that the vehicle uses the electric motors to charge the batteries in a braking condition. Therefore, when you apply the brakes, the electric motors polarity is reversed and it works against the forward momentum of the vehicle.
Most peoplethink that hybrids are the end all, be all answer, but in reality, it depends on what driving conditions your encounter the most.
Basically, if you commute in town in stop and go traffic, the hybrids will doo great for your gas bill.
If you are cruising down the highway, the gas mileage will be horrible, since the vehicle will be running the under powered gas engine the entire trip.
