We have all probably seen the car insurance commercials on television proclaiming “You could save 300, 400, 500 dollars by switching to my company!” (ie. AllState, Geico).

But I’ve always wanted to know: Compared to what? Exactly what kind of insurance did the people in these examples have BEFORE “switching”? Is this just another clever skewing of statistics?

Classic Car Valuation: How It Is Done?

Thursday, August 26th, 2010

A Classic Car has its own appeal and image in the market. Therefore, Classic Car valuations can get tricky since neither the buyer or the seller know the actual value of the car – that is why it remains a classic. Classic Cars are collector’s items and only a person who actually knows the intricacies of the car will know the real value of it. However, there are websites that do offer to give a ball-park figure or the outline of the value for your car.

No doubt, it is really tough to determine the valuations of Classic Cars but the basics are just the same as for other normal cars. A Classic Car’s worth is first noted depending on the market requirements and how much of demand for the classic is still there. There are also minor issues like the brands or models which could be of different quality and that make a difference during valuations. Some Classic Cars would have been restored professionally over the period of time whereas there may be others that have not had little or no restoration work done itself.

Auctions are the best way to know the value of a Classic Car and as people know that when the demands increase for a particular model or brand the value and price also increases. If there is not much of a demand automatically the value also comes down. Most people feel that if a celebrity has owned that car, the value also goes up irrespective of whether the demands are high or low. Classic cars need to be stored well to maintain its original finish that could fetch you a good value. Also as everyone knows it is wise to insure your car which is often cheaper than normal cars. Your insurance policy would be able to cover almost all types of risks including theft, fire, flood or even vandalism.

Which small SUV is the most comfortable for tall people? (Ford Escape, Honda CR-V, Toyota Rav4?)?

Saturday, August 7th, 2010

I’m a tall guy at around 6′5″ and I’m in the market for a small SUV as cars just aren’t comfortable enough for me. Even bigger cars including family sedans kill my back the way you have to slouch and sit so low and “crawl” down into them. Fellow giants will know what I’m talking about. Anyway, which small SUV has the most leg room?

I say small SUV because gas mileage is a huge concern for me. My options are the Ford Escape, Honda CR-V or Toyota Rav4. I’d really like to know which one is the most comfortable to drive on a daily basis and long trips. No hybrids please.

for those who have a Toyota Rav4 or Hyundai Santa Fe. Does it fit a car-seat plus 2 people in the back seat?

2 regular adults + a car-seat, I mean.
